Commissioning documentation

Plan a backup and restore check

Identify what must be recoverable and demonstrate a controlled restore as part of commissioning.

Identify irreplaceable state

List the memory, configuration and task state that the commissioned setup needs to recover. Distinguish private data from reproducible software and specify where approved backups may be stored.

Test recovery

A backup file existing is different from a successful restore. Choose a controlled recovery test, verify the restored state and compare it with the expected working configuration.

  1. Identify the source state.
  2. Restore into the agreed test destination.
  3. Replay a representative task against the restored setup.

Keep the receipt

Retain the backup time, restore outcome and any excluded state in the final acceptance evidence. Agree who owns future backups and how changes to the setup affect recovery.
